Hello all. Desperately looking for help for my goldfish. I have already lost two of them and am at a complete loss for what to do! two developed what looks like a pimple on top of their head that burst, creating a hole. One had a perfect hole with redness around it right through his tail. I have been doing regular water changes but am having issue lowering the nitrates, could this be the cause? Any advice would greatly appreciated!!

Inside my ranchus quarantine tank this morning. I can't tell if it's just poop or a parasite of some sort.

Goldfish can handle higher nitrate levels, but you must do a large enough water change to remove the nitrates. Do 25% first every day for 4 days, and then increase it to 50%, and finally do a last water change so that the water line is just one inch above the fish. Make sure to add enough water conditioner for the whole tank before refilling with water.

Bacterial infection is my guess. I would treat with Seachem Paraguard and Seachem Kanaplex, following the instructions for max dosage, and doing at least a 25% water change before the next Kanaplex dosage. On week 2 and week 3, I would then treat with Seachem Paraguard and Seachem Neoplex.

Make sure you buy enough of each medication. Paraguard has to be dosed every day.

That's stress poo as a result of being sick.
