I like all the DIY filters and sumps :) I like how you grow plants out of the tank. Great way to get around uprooters and fish that eat them. Beautiful pics, great shots! I particularly like the latest pic. You should enter the Picture of the month contest next round.

Is this dwarf sag or chain sword? I always mix them up. Did you trim it? Whatever plant it is, can it be trimmed? I'm not sure if trimming my dwarf sag killed it off or if it was a lack of light at the time.

The plant is jungle val. It suspose to grow tall but for me it hasnt. Lots of runners. Last night i added more light hoping it will grow up so i can put some in my bigger tanks. Im not much of a planted person. Got the val because it was suspose to be a easy grow.

Fired up the sump today after a few changes. Was able to fine tune it and now pushing 2k-3k gph to two 125's. Pushing some serious water now. I dont think im going to be able to sleep tonight.

Yeah, runners go out, then form roots in places. I started with about 4 plants if I remember correctly.

I've never seen a val that only stays short! That's really cool actually. Is that just regular gravel in the tank? I'm impressed, and I am a plant person! If you want a taller val, get jungle again. I think you may have got the wrong variety. My jungle val is huge, the scale is all wrong for jungle val. Some jungle val in the back, mini val in the front

How much light do you have on this tank? Typically bright light makes plants grow more compact and shorter, whereas low light causes the plant to reach for light, growing taller.
