right!?!?!? that's what I said! craigslist! do lots of researching and ull find the gem lmao. it is an hr away but still worth it! the measurements are 72" x 9" x 20" probably 72 length 9 width and 20 height. ... you think the width is too short? or the length makes it up for the fish to swim back and forth?

It will llikely be a issue for a 10-12" cichlid :/ Which the jack will grow to about that.

And when you said rainbow cichlid did you refer to a Herotilapia multispinosa ?

The pic is real small for me to get a good look.

So about the setup for substrate get you a few bags of pool filter sand at least 4 bags I'm thinking and you can do plants but you will need to invest in the right lighting.

Agree, not sure why but your first picture was reasonable but your second one was tiny. Would love to see a bigger picture of the fish.

Length is usually the most important dimension for a tank to a point, but 9" front-to-back is really small. Even a standard 10 gallon aquarium is wider than that. Plus it's acrylic, which means if that 9" measurement is the width of the exterior, then the interior space is going to be closer to 8". At least two of your fish will barely have room to turn around. Total water volume will probably be something around 45-50 gallons, again after subtracting the width of the acrylic.

I think it's a neat tank and a great price, but it may not be the best for the particular fish you have.

One other question - you say you're not using the overflow, which is fine. Have you thought about what kind of filtration you're going to use? With an acrylic tank you have to be able to work with the fact that the lid is sealed except for the cutouts. You can't just hang a filter over the back like you can with a glass tank.

And about the filter part, good thing my girlfriends sister is the manager for outsmart and she knows a lot about setting up tank, she said she suggest the canister filter? Something like that But she'll be the person that will be helping me set up the tank, so at least i know ill be in good hands haha

If you have not yet made this tank purchase, perhaps you might consider spending your dollars toward a setup that would be right for these fish that have been yours for so long.
The knowledgeable members above -- who are telling you now that your fish will outgrow the small front-to-back width -- have experience and are sharing their advice with you to help you provide an ideal environment for these fish.

Take your time, nothing "good" happens fast in this hobby.

Try to repost a larger pic of your current tank and fish
