    Thanks for letting us know for sure. Sorry you had to go through it. But I will say thank you for mentioning the UV sterilizer, with your husbandry practices, sounds great! Pls keep us updated, I'm very hopeful for your remaining four :)

    It may very well be that these fish were not prime specimens, but I also think that the tank wasn't cycled to a level enough for this stocking. Using cycled media from another tank is a great way to get going - I do that too. And I've used Instant Aquarium as well. But I tend to stock up much more slowly.

    8 discus and a pleco is a heavy load. You should be showing nitrates, at least, and it appears that the tank does not have any live plants (?) which would help a little. The fact that the ammonia started to climb seems to indicate at least a mini cycle, if not a full cycle was starting. I would consider frequent (daily or every other day) water changes for some time, especially if you add another couple of discus and assume a cycle is still going on.
