I was looking at some of the smaller softer water rainbows. It will be a mix of smaller fish. I don't know if I will go with dwarf cichlids or maybe try something different, like a gouramis species and corys to round it out.

    Cool, tetras and rasboras then?

Yes, it will definitely contain schooling fish. Exactly what will depend on availability and input from the boys, to an extent. That's a month or so out though.

So far, so good. Having a bit of a diatom outbreak, its more the glass than the water making the pic look blurry. Pretty well expected that with the sand. The plants I had are all growing, albeit at a moderate rate compared to some tanks. The new growth on the blyxa is golden and red, so it appears to me to have sufficient lighting. I did add some more plants and some sae, because I want to be on top of algae. Parameters are fine, honestly I have a hard time getting measurable nitrogen levels of any kind, but I am ok with that.

I know from before a lot of people here liked ordering fish from the wet spot? Is it still recommended? How is their quality? I was looking at prices and selection, if their quality - health and color is good, think I may order from them. Enough of a price difference to cover shipping compared to my somewhat local stores if I buy quantity.

I've never been disappointed in them and I've been ordering from them for 5+ years. The only DOA's I ever got were a bag of Cory's and they credited my account no questions asked after I submitted the picture of the dead cory's in the bag. Most of the fish in the three tanks are from them. I'm sure a few others will chime in but for me I don't look anywhere else....unless somebody were to get some Kitty tetra's in ;-)

    Yes, in Portland.

In order for TWS to honor their no DOA guarantee, you had to get them shipped NDA (next day air)

I'll order on a Monday, they'll QT for a day, ship on Tuesday, receive on Wednesday
