thanks mac for watching. i used to shoot displays for the family and local town on our land, and my girls campouts, and that hobby has turned in to me in charge of the independence day show for a 100k person town...

And since that sounds more like a job than a hobby, I'm retiring and taking up fish.

I have a garage that's storage now, and a guest room that's a play room. My girls are older so I was thinking guest room to office + fish room for me, and garage to playroom for the kids.

Gotta figure out how to fund it all, but that's what I'm thinking.

The room that'll become fish room is great; right off the kitchen, with a window to the backyard where the chickens and garden are, so I can reuse reject water.

(I need a RO/DI rig now too, of course !)

A room right off the kitchen means easy access to the kitchen sink - perfect! Less hassle for water changes especially if using a python.

This i very hypertheticle. But even if the room is very small its amazing how many tanks can be added.
It all depends on the plan you have.
What floor have you got? Wood or concrete?? filtration?? I am going all out with a big air pump and many many droppers from a 1in air line.
And depending on how new the house is heating. If it's fairly new then heating will be no issue at all.

Yeah, it's not particularly new -- House was built in 1968, concrete slab foundation. I have carpet over top but will rip that up. Climate will be the big thing, I think -- I have good attic insulation, but the windows and doors are paper thin. Heating in winter isn't the issue, but cooling in the summer will be. I have a single central AC unit, and my reef tank hit 81F over the weekend when it was 92F outside and 73F in the house. I'll need to think about big fans for the SW section of the fish room.
