It is a very poor quality vid but if you look closely at the left side of the snail you can see the thin white things wiggling.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to think of the string dangling from the nerite. The movie quality is poor but to me it looks like a thin string of feces or perhaps some crud/slime hanging off the snail. It's also worth mentioning that relaxed nerites can extend their tentacles into very long, thin strings.

Here's another cool video of a nerite in action

It sort of reminds me of a pressure washer

That was a cool vid, mada, haven't seen that one before.

If it weren't for those dang eggs, I'd love to keep some nerites

I've bought most of my nerites from my LFS or an on-line site, but I have also bought 2 horned bumblebee nerites from Petsmart with no issues. The Petsmart near me doesn't have nerites too often but I was able to find these two about 6 months ago.

I think it's because a single female snail can be impregnated in the growout tank and still lay eggs in your tank. Actually, I don't even know if they can lay eggs regardless of fertilization, in that case, if you got a female nerite snail, you risk getting eggs.

I have one small tiger horned nerite in my 5.5g and HE keeps the tank squeaky clean
I say "HE" because I see no eggs. I actually have 4 confined male nerite snails in my tanks.

The videos were great! Tx for posting :) This is a great thread on nerites!

Since the nerite snail eggs will not hatch in freshwater can't they just be removed manually or vacuumed out? If I put 5 in a 75G tank it would help my diatom problem but without a QT first, is the benefit worth the risk...that is my dilemma.
