Both lol. I've only had him for 2 weeks - so the first time I just dumped a bucket in and the second time I siphoned - the third time I did 100% because I was scared of his finrot and i put him in a cup while I cleaned everything and then bucketed everything back in

Treat with Prime for the hole tank amount...1 ml treats 10 gallons, so use 1/2 ml for a 5.5G tank

Wait 24 hours after changing water before testing again

So do I always treat for the 5 gallons every time I change the water? As of now I've just been putting in a few drops to the water I'm putting in.

If you are putting the water into the bucket before the tank, then you treat for 5 gallons in the bucket. Put Prime in the bucket, and then fill the bucket with water. Finally, put water from bucket into tank.

If you put the water into the tank directly, then you treat the total tank volume, adding Prime just before you fill the tank.

This tank is only 5g so the amount coming out and going back in for a 50% wc is only 2-3g. So, add the new tap water to the bucket, treat the bucket for the 2-3g's that are in there, then add to tank.
