    Red face Breeding rams

    Hi Guys,

I am looking to get some Rams for my 120 litre tank.

My LFS I know has Blue rams, golden, Bolivian and electric.

I have had my best experience with the hardier Bolivian type so may go with them. However as they will be my centre piece in my fully cycled (3 year old tank, currently un-occupied) I am wanting to breed them.

So the question is how many should I get, a single pair? 3? 2 female 1 male? a random group of 3-5?

How old are the rams at your LFS can you sex them?

Also are you familiar with there water requirements for spawing? Soft slightly acidic temp around 80-82f

They make little pits for fry protection so I recommended sand. Also they lay eggs on pieces of rock like slate or river rock.

I would get the best looking male and female since your tank doesn't have much room for a group.

Also spend a good amount of time watching them at the LFS you might notice a male and female following each other more then the others.
