Hello. I am new to this whole forum thing. In fact, this is the first I've ever joined. I'm hoping someone might offer me some Golden Gourami advice. My golden gourami, Gary, is ill. His color has faded and he is very weak. He is struggling to swim and I've found him up near the filter several times now. He was a school classroom fish that I inherited when my daughter graduated from the school. We've had him for almost 2 years and he was probably at the school for approximately one year. So Gary is probably about 3 years old. Is he just dying from old age? Is there something I could try to help him feel his feisty self again? Thank you, Gary's mom

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your gourami. I don't know what is wrong with him but others might. It would help to know a little more info. What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrItes, nitrAtes)? Does he look swollen? Are his scales starting to stick out (looks like a pinecone when observed from above)? Are there any other fish in this tank and how are they doing? Maybe with more info someone will be able to help. Also, a pic or vid is most helpful.
