I was wondering if we were talking about the ecosystem or the store. :) I guess one could do an Amazon.com tank, though--populated and decorated entirely with things from the online store. I think the ecosystem would be more interesting, though.

Yes - the micro cuts on my hands after cleaning it from a tank.

Never took pictures of the corries I had in it but they did get red bellies (sterbai cories), and I kept 2 types of geos that got red gills and heavy breathing before i pulled them from the tank. I love the look, got it from tractor farm supply, black diamond grinding sand. I used to have my hands ache after scaping with it. Then got micro cuts after going through it. Theres no source like a article, just personal experience. Thats what everything I say is based on for everything I pass on.

That's so odd. I didn't have any cuts on my hands, and I have albino cories and pygmy cories with my Black Diamond. Their bellies and barbels are completely fine. What grit did you use? Mine is the medium 20/40.

Interesting discussion, Boof and Sandz. I believe both of you. :) Is is possible that something besides the sand was happening with Sandz' hands and cats, or that you were using a different product? Or maybe, since the stuff is made to be used for sand blasting, the micro-texture of it just isn't all that consistent from bag to bag? That would sure explain the widely different reports about the stuff. Please keep discussing this!

I used the one size down from that. I live next to the tractor supply I got it from. And honestly I love the stuff. I just know its cut my stuff up even though its amazingly cheap. Its meant to be abrasive, that says it all to me.

I had the same thing happen to me with the black sand from Petco.
