I do 2 large water changes a week. I did go 8 days between last night's wc and the last one tho. Nitrates at 5ppm (tested after taking the video). Nitrate usually stays between 5 & 10ppm. No ammonia or nitrite.
Thanks in advance for any comments

I love discus! Nice tank! The discus appear dark because the the dark background I have read, but they look awesome to me. I have seen this before in my angelfish. But it seems to only happen for a short time and I attributed it to fighting between my pairs. You say he is at the bottom of the pact, is he being chest-bumped often or bullied? Does he hide in the darkness on his own accord?

I'm sure others will chime in more knowledgeable than me, but I'm following along!

When you do a water change, do you wipe the inner glass with a sponge? Do you clean your filter often?

Is he still breathing with one gill?

Sorry for the delayed response. I haven't reached out to Spardas as of yet, but here's a quick update:

Maybe I'm speaking for myself, but I'd like to know what the issue is too!

Here's a reply I got from a dedicated discus forum, this particular contributor is among the most respected discus keepers in the hobby, so I would say he's probably got the issue as close to pinned as it's going to get:

    "Hi Jason,
As the others pointed out, your discus is definetly malnourished. Its could be from parasites. The tell tale signs are how thin it is, the pinched abdomin. Its also been going down hill awhile now...if you look at the tail and dorsal fin you can see erosion at the borders. Thats a sign of nutritional deficiency. The fish may have gill parasites as well or it could be an opportunistic bacterial infection there from its weakened state."
