Default African Dwarf Frog in community tank?

Does anyone here have experience with ADF's in a community tank? I did a little research on these guys and they seem like they would be entertaining and fun to have. They don't get very big so I do not think any of my current fish would be food for them. I have a 40B community tank with the following: green neon tetra, Colombian tetra, gold gourami, cory cats, RCS, assassin and pest snails, loaches, and one BNP. Maybe little shrimplets might become food for ADF? I know these frogs need to go up to the surface for air since they have lungs instead of gills, so it's not recommended to keep them in a tank any higher than 15-16". I have also read that they aren't very strong swimmers and could be struggling to get food vs. the other fish.

Mainly just seeing if anyone here at the AC has had ADF in with other fish, and if it's recommended or not. My fiancee was asking about them, so I started doing a little research and wanted to ask the AC.

Some have tried this, but the warning you've read about ^ was accurate. They are slow to eat, and your fish would gobble down their food. It is recommended that ADF's are set up within their own tank. Possibly with some very carefully chosen tankmates: snails, shrimp, and a Betta is another common ADF tankmate I've read about.

Thanks! So it seems like they would do best in their own tank.

Don't put ADF in your community tank.

We tried ADFs in the community tank. Yes, they are active and fun, but feeding is challenging since (like RG says above) the fish get to the food before the frogs do and there's really no good way to fix that. Also, You have a rather tall tank (I think) for frogs, since they are not strong swimmers, but need to get to the surface for air bubbles. Our lives changed when we moved the frogs to their own tank. Okay, maybe not life changing, but it did get easier to feed and enjoy the frogs in their own 5G.

Been so darned busy I haven't had time to be online. Wedding in Buffalo, vacation in Orlando, setting up the new classroom, in-services - all in the past 2 weeks. I'm wiped out and ready to crash. Glad to be home.

and by "Orlando" I mean 4 12-hour days at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure with a 10 year-old who doesn't stop.
