So right now I only have 3 fish. So I am going to stock up my tank and some of my favorite fish are gouramis but most are too aggressive. But sparkling gouramis and Honey gouramis are both quite peaceful so can they coexist?

They should be able to but the 3 other fish and tank size will be limiting factor. Also I know with honeys, you want some girls if you plan on having more than 1 male-they help mellow the guys, at least IME. Never had sparkling-though I have wanted them.

Is it a 20 long, and what type of filtration do you have? Also these guys like well planted tanks-they love to hide in the plants and graze on algae.

The tank would be too small for a group of both gouramis, since you would want at least 4 honey and 2-4 sparkling and they get to be 1.5-2" depending on species. Since the sparking are towards the 1.5" size I would go with a group of them in the 20. If it was a 29 or 40B then you can do a good group of both. Also otos prefer to be in groups of 6 as well, I would at least try for 3.

Here is some good information on the otos, honey and sparkling gouramis. You can check with Aqadvisor.com to see how many fish you are able to stock within your tank's size and filtration capacity. It is a bit conservative on stocking but is a great guide to give you an idea of the bioload of the fish you are considering and if they will work together temp and pH wise.

The only real difference between the 20L and the 29 is in the height. I'm not familiar with the honey gourami - do they swim mostly near the top? I have 4 sparkling gouramis in a 5.5g. They are pretty small and tend to swim lower in the tank, with occassional trips around the top half.

Just based on size I actually think it could work in a 20 long. Not sure about compatibility, though. The sparkling gourami males will do a bit of sparring and chasing from time to time with no ill effects to each other. I have had chili rasboras in with them in the past and am still deciding what to pair with them now. Although since my tank is only 5.5g, I'll be looking at either ember tetras or chilis again.

I don't think there is enough tank space for a group of honeys. The extra 9 gallons of tank will help with territory, but then it isn't big enough for 4 honeys, maybe a male with 3 females... My gouramis are all over the tank and I have 7 in a 75, plus my older male is a nice big 2"-2.25" long and the other 6 still have to grow into that size. I can't see 4 of them in a 20L. I personally wouldn't do that to them, they are bigger than the sparkling gouramis and a 20 would be tight, IMO and experience.
