You can blanch them but I don't and I leave them in until its all gone or falling apart (usually around 3-5 days) and floats on up to the surface. I use stainless steel skewers to hold my veggies in place.

How big is this tank?...you could add more otos, they're social and do best in larger groups anyway
I have a 55G tank and I planned on adding more of the Ottos but I bought up the last 5 that they had so I have to wait until they get their next shipment in.

If I am only going to add one or two pieces of broccoli or one or two green beans should I still use a skewer?

It will help the veggies stay down and not float around but try it without the skewer and see if they have any problems getting to it.

Got it thanks! I think I will stick with the skewer so I don't have to fish around in there if they get stuck in a spot where the fish cant get to them.

That, or they'll get stuck where you can't retrieve them to get them out...I always have bits leftover

These work great for me, you can leave the handle sticking out with the lid closed

Thanks for the idea Slap. I might have to go over to Wally's world after work today and pick that up.
