I have noticed more people are starting (or already have) nano reef tanks. I am just starting my research in this area so I do not have any pics to share but I would love to see what others have set up. Please, also include what equipment you have running on it.

My first question is, what constitutes a "nano" SW tank, how small can it actually be?...what's the minimum in USG?

While I don't have any SW tanks in my mind it should be anything between 5-15 gallons maybe? Since once you get to 20 gallons you're getting into the average range? Nano could be 5-20 gallons in my mind if you like too.

3.5 Gallon Tank = Bella Blue Luna (obtained 5/11/19) - I think a blue mustard female halfmoon

I have read that "they" consider a nano anything 15g or smaller. But I agree, I consider a 20g to be a nano, too.

I was under the impression that anything under 15G was not doable, salt-wise...where I got that notion, I haven't a clue

Fluval sells a 5G and a 12G nano reef system. That being said, the smaller the tank the harder it is to maintain stability in the water. That tends to be true in FW tanks, too. In the nano tanks it is not advocated to have fish because there really isn't enough room for them to live without stunting their growth. I have read that a 30G minimum is recommended to have fish but I think a 20G might allow 2 very small clowns. It will mostly be corals, LPS mostly with a few inverts.

I have seen people with clown fish in nano tanks, I'm not sure it is advisable but I think a nice softie or LPS nano with a few hermits would be neat. That's what I am planning on doing

I'm pretty much done with fw. I have caught the salt fever bad.
I take that back I think I will divide up that 20L in to a betta tank like Paul

I've seen some stunning nano tanks my mate has 2 as well as his main tank.

All he has in them is some inverts and some easy to keep SPS and LPS they look stunning and very easy to keep on top of water quality.
