Default Possible mouth fungus or parasite in Harly Rasboras?

Help! They're dying off one by one and i don't know what to do. I've only had Betta fish before this, and I thought Harlequin Rasboras would be easy. the first one just looked like its jaw had been dislocated or something. I tried to feed it specially, but it still wouldn't eat, and I found it dead this morning. another one died by the time i got home from work today. two others look like they can't close their mouths, and they have some white specks on and inside their mouths. it doesn't look like ich, so what could it be? i'll try to get pics if i can.

    Welcome to the AC.

Pics will definitely help with the problem.

What is the history of this tank?

It sounds like a parasite since the fish are all having trouble closing their mouths. I'd have to search to find out which ones can cause this and the best cure, but I remember it happening in another forum, just as you're describing. I'll try to find it!

It's an uncycled tank, if you've only had it set up for a week, with no established media.

That is what is causing your fish severe distress, if so.

    It sound's like columnaris flexibacter.

You have to fix the water conditions first - 0 ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrites and less than 20ppm nitrates. Use a liquid test kit. If you don't have one, start doing 50% water changes everyday, using a water conditioner than neutralizes ammonia temporarily, like Seachem Prime.

I used some of that instant cycle stuff that lets you add fish immediately. I admit i was a little skeptical at first, but I read about it and it seemed ok. Also i have been adding prime, and stresscoat.

Ok so what you're saying is that I should have just done it the old fashioned way?

Agreed. You have fish that need help asap, your first step is cycling, but if you have Prime, this product will ease the bad effects while your fish are going through the cycle.
