I just picked up 6 Ember Tetras for my 20 L. So cute! I was wondering if I should add more to the school or could I combine other "nano" fish with them as well. I have never kept these little guys before, so any advice on them would be most welcome.

    Thanks!

I have never had any Ember Tetras but they are on my list to add to my 20L. Currently I have Green Neons, Boraras maculatus and Boraras naevus along with some Sakura Fire Red Shrimp and mystery snails. I'm glad you like the ET and I can't wait to get mine.

Embers are a very nice little tetra. I have had them in many a community tank. With a tank size of 20 litres there are only a few fish that won't outgrow the tank. Micro rasboras come to mind. There are a few with really nice colours. Or maybe add some java moss and shrimp like some Red Cherry shrimp which come in various colours now a days. Beware the Green embers, although they are small, they are a bit aggressive towards everything their size.

This tank is a 20 long. Not 20 liters. Sorry for the confusion

Awesome. Now there are some choices. What else is living in the tank? Is it planted? Just curious. With 20 gallons there is room for a few more species with your embers.

The only other fish is a very lazy, easy going betta. He doesn't even look at them as they swim past. Haha! He is the most docile betta I have ever owned. Yes, this is a planted tank. Working on it anyway. There is a small piece of driftwood and a variety of plants I took out of my 55 which consist of...

    Java Fern
    Anubias Nana ( believe petite)
    Moneywort
    Water wisteria
    Hygro
    small crypt wendtii
    3 marimo balls

Green/false neons always look good with Embers they only get .75" to 1", there's also Gold phantoms that grow to just over 1" that are small and peaceful. There's a whole lot of micro-boras to recommend but one that I think would look great with your embers is the green kubotai rasbora.

Also bump you current school to 10-12 they will thank you ;-)
