Question on flake food...
0
Do omnivors need a special flake? I see there are veggie flakes available but haven't seen any omnivore flakes. Im using Omega One Natural Protein Formula Super Color. I see there is kelp in it. Will it satisfy the veggie part of their diet or should i feed some kind of veggie flake or are there omnivore flakes?
Thanks

+ 1 to the above. You can also use vegetables like a cucumber sliced and roughed up once a week. What stock are you worried about?

All my fish are omnivores right now. Endlers, Dwarf cories, honey gourami. Ive seen the recommendation of cucumbers for honey gourami, been meaning to give it a try.
What's the best way to feed cucumbers and vegetables?

I usually slice cuc about 1/4 inch thick, remove outside skin, score surface with a knife tip, pour boiling water over it for a few seconds, let cool, stick three toothpicks in it to keep it vertical (stool like pattern), and bury the ends of the tooth picks in the gravel so the cuc stays down there. I do this for pleco's, rtb sharks, and greenfire tetras. They love it. I have never seen any Cory's near the cucumber either.

Why not use zucchini?
Cucumber is mostly comprised of water, zuc has a bit more nutrient value
I never remove any skin (peel) from any of the veggies I offer, most times, if there's any skin left after my piggies devour their salad, it helps to remove remnants from the tank, peel tends to remain on skewers or forks, IME...

I too have used zucchini which gets consumed with just as much gusto. The only reason I peel the veggies is because I am always worried about the sprays used on them from the grocery supply chain. Homegrown goes in with the skin attached.
