    Is the tank cycled?

    What filters do you have?

    Do you have hard water?

What's the PH of your tap water?

Do you plan to have a heater in the tank?

Welcome to the school. The members have always been nice and friendly to me. I always keep coming back to this forum for feedback and information, even if I don't like the responses I get, because everyone here is very knowledgeable.

Cycling is important, because tank spikes can kill fish...ALOT...especially Ammonia and NitrItes. Slap's already given you the link. But for a ten gallon tank if you want a single school maybe some of the smaller tetras. Some of the other members could advise you more about types as I don't have much experience with them.

Again welcome, and we're glad to have you.

ask a few of the members who know me very well how many times I've botched a cycle or stocked a tank incorrectly...I've been there, done that, and still need guidance on occasion.

In my opinion, the 10g tank is too small for schooling, semi aggressive fish, certainly for tiger barbs and sharks. There's just not enough room for them to stake out their own space and/or hide. For schooling fish, some of the more peaceful, nano fish would do better in there.

Thank you SueD, I don't have much experience with semi aggressive fish so I didn't want to give any options regarding them...:D
