Hey guys. My wife's fish is in our planted 30 Gallon. I've had the guy for about 8 months and he is declared "owned" by my wife because she loves him and named him Alex lol. I left for a trip to Oklahoma this weekend and was gone for about three days. There is a goldfish, 2 guppies (Pair) and a Siamese algae eater. When I got home Alex had scales ripped off and silver, damaged looking scales. My phone is dead from the trip but here is a picture of a fish with the exact same condition. I started looking up what could have happened, I got tons of different answers from "he's going to die!" to "thats completely normal". I sat in front of the tank and examined the scales. When doing so, i saw that the pregnant female guppie was nipping it exactly where the scales were missing. I removed her and her boyfriend. What should I do about Alex? I don't want to move him to a quarantine because all I have is a 5 gallon quarantine and I don't want to stress him out even more.

The algae eater probably did the initial damage to the fish. I would remove the algae eater to a new tank or rehome it. Keep the water very clean with additional water changes and it should heal. Keep a close eye on the fish in case infection sets in. If it does you will need medication.
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Dear naps, sorry I hated you so much when I was a child... Love me

Agreed that the guppies are just being opportunistic.
The fish in the background looks like a common plec though, not a Siamese algae eater. Undernourished plecos will attempt to rasp on other fish though. Are you deliberately feeding the pleco anything?

I think that the photo the OP posted was not actually his fish, but a found photo of a 'fish with a similar condition'.

OP, have you had a chance to snap a photo of the fish in question?
