My LFS has had a hard time getting in a couple fish that I want so I've been looking online, and imperial tropicals is the first site I've found that has both of them. I've never bought fish online before (did get some shrimp from aquabid) and I'm not really huge on the idea, but it may be my only option.
I have ordered from Imperial Tropicals on three separate occasions.
In all instances the fish arrived in excellent health and with no fouling of their shipping water. Their policy is that once your order is confirmed, that the fish to be shipped are isolated from their regular stock for a period of two days during which time they are not fed such that their bodies may purge of the food eaten previously. The shipping bags are filled with 100% oxygen inn addition to the water which also helps prevent ph shift due to CO2 build up.
They know very well what they are doing. I ordered on a Thursday and they did not ship until the following Tuesday to guarantee that they would not possibly be held up anywhere in a warehouse enroute for the 2-3 days travel time.. I have always used the standard 2-3 day shipping and have always received the charges in excellent health. I have emailed them with questions from time to time (both before ordering and even after delivery) and they have always responded in a timely manner. They have a very good reputation and from what I have seen from my experiences with them; they aim to keep it.
