Default MY free 55 gallon journal

So I recently procured a free 55 gallon aquarium. I have leak tested it and have a plan. I plan for it to be planted on ether side with eco-complete and in the middle I will have sand for two reasons. 1 to break up and give contrast and 2 to save cost so I don't have to buy multiple bags of eco-complete. I have all the hardscape picked out and I just bought a SUNSUN 302 canister filter and filter media.

    My fish plan
    4-5 angelfish
    12-14 harleguin rasboras
    6-8 cory cats
    15-20 Shrimp

I wanted simple 3-4 species with the angels being the Main fish and then a nice school of small fish. What do you all think. Any input would be great

    "Free" is my favorite price.

I don't know anything about angels, but the rest of the stocking plan sounds good to me...you could do 12 corys easily, 6 each of ones you like...heck, maybe even 18 with that footprint

Your scaping looks awesome so far...

Your plan sounds terrific! I really like the driftwood arrangement. I like the sounds of the mixed bottom, kind of how a natural lake is, it changes and transitions. Your simple stocking list sounds great and leaves lots of room for growth or for adding something down the road if it really catches your eye. I think the angels will be fine with your other choices, make sure to get them little and get them last. Small lets the other fish grow up with them and lastly because that way no other stock is invading their already staked out territory. I can't wait to watch this come together!

    Update

So I took out the hardscape after taking very detailed pictures so I'd remember where everything went.

Got in my eco-complete today so I was ready to get this tank together. Laid out the substrate

    IMG_2300.JPG

After that put the hardscape back in, filled my filter with dechlorinated water and filled the tank half way, placed the anubius and java fern and topped off the tank.

    IMG_2302.JPG

I think it looks AMAZING! I bought Dr Tim's one and only nitrifying bacteria going to add it and maybe three harlequin rasboras maybe Saturday to cycle the tank.
