So my fish as of a previous post had ich, there are no longer any signs of it however I continue to keep my temperature elevated to in sure that anything that may be hidden will be taken care of. This post is not being created because I am using this product nor have I ever used it. However during my reading about ich I stumbled upon an article and this talked about fenbendazole...a major ingredient in safeguard, the dog dewormer. I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone has ever used and/or heard of anyone using this for the treatment of any disease and if so please elaborate. Thanks AC

Personally wouldn't use dog medicine on fish, unless there is very sure it's pure and doesn't contain harmful chemicals (e.g.) flea/tick killer along with it... and anyway an internet search turns up plenty of sites offering fenbendazole specifically for aquarium use.

I don't think Altima was implying to use the Safeguard in the tank. I think he was asking just about the fenbendazole itself for use in aquariums and if anyone had experience using it.

You're correct, although I have read articles about people actually grinding safeguard into a powder mixing it with a small amount of water and adding it to their aquarium to kill planaria and hydra.

Here is an example of an article containing such claims

Most articles that you'll find do talk about using this on invertebrates which can be extremely intolerant towards chemicals, thus raises my original question. Has anybody used l fenbendazole in any form?

But you're also correct, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either method.
