    Question Keeping down Aggression?

    0 Not allowed!
Hey friends! I am a noob at salt water aquariums. I am keeping a twenty gallon saltwater aquarium with a fire fish, some hermit crabs and a peppermint shrimp. I am going to be moving into a new apartment with a 75 gallon that I would like to turn it into a a salt water tank. I really wanted to get a tomato clown but when I went to the local aquarium store they had one in what looked like a 50 something tall with a yellow tang and a damsel. The clown was giving little nips at the other fish. I'm sure I could keep other fish for the size of tank I have. How would I keep down aggression? How do people have these large tanks with more aggressive fish like tangs and clowns from dominating the other fish?

First of all, not all clowns are aggressive and not all tangs are aggressive. It really depends on the exact fish you are talking about. However, if you only have a 20 gallon tank, none of the fish you have listed will do very well long term. The fish that were in the same tank in that store is a big problem waiting to happen !

As you will have a 75 gallon, you can consider a kole or mimic tang. They will have the least chance for aggression and/or becoming territorial. For clown fish you should stick one or two (no more than that) of any of these different types of Ocellaris Clownfish.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
