Thank you Rocksor, I'll be looking into all of those products over the week. My female had a very small white spot on her head maybe a day or two before I got the male. It just looked like one little scale had turned white, maybe from an injury or something. I didn't think anything of it. The first two days that the male was in there, he chased her around and harassed her, didn't think they were going to pair. Her spot got a little bigger, but didn't look like anything just yet. Then once they started prepping their nest in the sand, I noticed it getting worse. It all went down hill those next couple days.

I feed these flakes to my angel every six months as a preventative after she almost died due to a nasty protozoan endemic to Angels.

I would not use metro on a regular basis as a preventative.
In fish, an excessive use of metronidazole can damage kidneys and other internal organs.(Bassleer, 1983)

Your pH is too high. Rams do well in pH between 5.0 to 6.0.
