    Hi,

    I just started an aquarium.
    I got 2 Red Parrots & 2 convicts.
The fish vendor gave me another one for free. Need help identifying this.
This one is really aggressive and has nearly bullied one of the convicts out of the water.

For now have separated it out.

Any help & advice will be really helpful.
Mine is a relatively smaller tank near about 20 gallon.

Looks like a melanochromis johannii. An african cichlid from Lake Malawi. Mbuna can be quite aggressive, especially when not kept in sufficient numbers. He has no business with those other fish you listed.

Also, your tank is too small to properly house your fish, this will make aggressive fish even more aggressive.

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

Dear naps, sorry I hated you so much when I was a child... Love me

    Hi

Thank you so much for your confirmation.
I was between johannii & Maingano.

A follow-up (if you dont mind :p), Do you think I should get rid of one of the pairs (looking at my tank size etc.)

Oh boy he looks stressed in the new tank.
None of your fish belong in a 20 gallon long term. You either need to get a much larger tank for the red parrots and convict, and another large tank for the other fish, or get rid of them all and buy fish appropriate for a 20g.
