I have a baby foxface in my 55, he's just about 2 inches, he sometimes nibbles on the green nori seaweed sheets I provide for him as well as a frozen seaweed/brine mix I get at my LFS, is it normal for him not to eat that much right now? I've had him for about a month...he's not showing bones or anything but I wanna fatten him up and give him the right nutrients he needs to live long and happy :) any suggestions?

There could be a few different things going on here. It sounds like you are feeding all the correct foods so he should be fine with that.

Do you have a lot of hiding spots for him to go to ? They do need a few spots they can hide in to feel safe and not get stressed. They will not eat a lot if he is stressed

Do you have other fish in the tank with him, and if yes, what fish are they. Just want to rule out any potential incomparability issues. Also, if a foxface is kept in a tank by themselves, they can be stressed by that as it is not a normal situation for them.

Also, you have to keep in mind these guys are nibblers, wanting to eat all throughout the day. If you put out seaweed for him, how much of it will hi eat in 24 hours ? will he eat it all ?

And lastly, what are your current water parameters for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and your salinity ?

As this is a thread about marine fish, I will move it to the correct section of the forum for you
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
