    Default Zebra danio going insane

Today one of my male zebra danios started acting a bit crazy. He would dart through the tank rubbing on the sand, across decorations and rubbing on plants. I caught him to have a closer look. No ick spots, no external worms hanging off him, no wounds, lumps or growths.

His spine is curved, I only noticed it after putting him in a jug and it looks like one gill might be sticking out a tiny bit. I'm leaving him in the jug tonight and starting salt treatment in case its some kind of gill parasite. If he's still alive in the mrning, I'll get him into a small QT tank until I know he is better.

Does this sound like a feasible treatment? How long should I treat him before I think about euthanasia? He looks absolutely miserable.

If he looks and acts as bad as you say, then I'd put him down...sorry for the loss

Curved spine and sudden erratic behavior may be something you cannot successfully treat, especially in a jug

I am sorry to hear this...how many other ZD's are in the tank?...and do they seem unaffected by the one's erratic behavior?

You are right, I went ahead and put him down. After reading on fish disease, I don't think it was gill flukes. I'm worried about my other fish but have no idea what to do for them.
I have three more danio, I've had them for a couple months now and they have been really healthy.

    Again, sorry for your loss.

Those 3 remaining zebras would like more of their own kind, if you choose

I don't recall the size and stocking of the tank, but they do better in larger groups

Yeah, I've been meaning to get more. I was waiting to see if any of the white ones came into the LFS, might have to cave and go to petco for them. I have plenty of room for a large school.
