    Default Filter Things?

    Sigh. I thought I knew what I was doing from now until fish time, but alas.

    So my 22 Gallon tank is almost ready for me to fill with water and begin cycling and all that fun stuff. But I'm stumped on my filter. I know I want an Aqua Clear filter, but how does that work? Do I get a 20 gallon filter? Or something bigger? AQ is telling me I would be good with a 50 gal filter, but is that gonna send my fish flying in the water? or should I lower the amount of fish I want to get and get a 30gal filter?

    Thanks for all the help!

    I have a 20 gallon long with a AC50 and AC20 filters. The fish don't have problems with it. You will be fine with a AC50. If you think it is too much a AC30 will work good too. Both are good choices. Do not buy a filter rated for 20 gallon. Get one bigger. AC30 or AC50

    Good to know ^^ I was looking at the 50 one, the price is a bit higher but I won't have to sacrifice my stocking number that I'm kind of super excited for lol

    Ahhh I also have another question now that I think about it. I see lots of filter inserts and replacements and stuff...how does that all work? Is that only with certain ones or do I need to stock up on those too? I'm worried about asking this stuff at PetSmart...the employees don't exactly always give me good answers ;3;

    No three parts. 1. Sponge just squeeze out in old tank water. 2. Biomedia ceramic stuff. Rinse in old tank water. 3. Carbon bag save for need.

    Nope...just a rectangle funny sized tank. I got it second hand from my boyfriends dad so I have no idea what brand it is or anything.
    I added a picture..if that helps?

    Cute tank. It's 84 liters. Liters don't always work out to comfy cozy gallon sizes. Sometimes you get tanks that are 22 gallons, which aren't common here.

    An AC50 will work for your tank. I had an AC110 on my 29gallon at one point with no issue. They aren't as strong as some would have you believe. In fact instead of one larger filter I would go with two smaller ones because your tank is long and one AC filter may not be able to pull water from the whole tank. If your heart is set on that brand, I would go with 2 AC20's, and put one on each end.
    When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
    Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

    I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
    Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
    Dear naps, sorry I hated you so much when I was a child... Love me
