Are you considering the 20g high or 20g long? I think the long would be the better choice given that it is shorter in height (+ for the frogs) and longer for more swimming room (+ for the fish).

I was going to go for one long and wide and no taller than 18 inches for the exact reasons you stated. From what I've seen the frogs may struggle in depths over two feet so I want to be at least a few inches under that.

So I was worried I may be over crowding but it sounds like I'm alright. That said do you guys think I have room for anything else? I'd like to get a snail or something weird also, but I can wait. After running this smallish tank for a year or two to get the hang of it I plan on getting a larger one so I can hold off, but if I've the room I might as well go for it! My biggest long term goal is establishing a coral tank, but that is far in the future.

Welcome to the AC. I'm looking forward to watching your build.

Planning it out carefully -- as you are -- before you purchase anything is a giant leap in the right direction.

I don't know if others will agree, but you may be able to put a nerite snail in the tank to help clean off diatoms, and 1 assassin snail to clean up any plant snails you may get from the plant's you're putting in the tank. However other than those two additions i don't think you should put anything else in there, and that you're good to go.

10 gallon tank - Sephiroth (obtained 01/01/18). 1 algae eating shrimp, 1 established anubias plant on rock, sponge filter and heater
