Welcome to the AC! - Slaphppy7

Default Unknown creature in my 20g freshwater aquarium!

    Hi guys!
I have a 20 gallon freshwater tropical community, and I have recently introduced plant life into my tank. This brought with it snails(of course) but it also brought along this unknown creature, and for the life of me I can't figure out what it is!

It's transparent in color, and about half an inch long. It swims as if it's a little sperm, yet it can also walk through the water as if it's a spider?
It has 6 legs but it looks like it has fins at it's rear as well.
I believe this could be some sort of crustacean, but I've never seen one look quite like this(it resembles some sort of shrimp, lobster, praying mantis hybrid)

I would appreciate any input, he hides within the plants mostly and I've only ever seen him once.

Currently in my tank I have a male betta, 3 cory catfish and an assassin snail.
    Thanks!

looks like a damsel fly larvae that will turn into a damsel fly nymph. They can eat fry, but at their size will be lunch to adult fish.

That is either a dragonfly or damselfly larvae...get it out of the tank, it can attack and eat very small fish (usually fry), but you don't want it in there, regardless of your fish size

Definitely damselfly larvae. As noted, it will eat small fish....
