Well. I got my microswords planted. Still don't know if i should spread them out a little more. a few amazon swords in the back. I have some java fern and bacopa caroliniana(sp) coming next week.

I went out and got my first fishes today. Some neon glow tetras(5)

As you can see from the pic there is everything. Will my fish get sucked up into my filter? there isn't a strainer or anything just a tube that picks up the water from about 3in down. Seems like if they got too close.... poof

I also got bio spira and added that to my tank before i let the fish go. The tank has been up for about 2 weeks with some plants now and 4 weeks total.

I went ahead and put my mini under gravel filter on there for now. It wasn't meant for it but it'll do the job of keeping them from getting sucked in just fine.

Also should i feed them tonight or just wait till morning? How much do 5 tetras eat?

    i would feed them tonight
but only a small amount glow lights can be pigs and eat heaps
    but the smaller the better
i give mine as much as they can eat in 2 mins it reduces the ammount of food left on the bottom
great idea for the under gravel cleaner at least now you wont lose your fish to the filter
    what a great idea

I got the rest of my plants in that i have ordered for now.

I was looking at the Moneywort(bacopa Monnieri) and see that it has roots coming out of the middle of the plant. Can i cut those off to make it look better or what can i do?

Are there any roots now under the substrate? If yes then i guess you can trim it. Btw, tank is looking good...Cheers!

There where some roots but not as much as i would have liked at the bottom of the plants. I guess since they are growing there anyway i might as well just cut them and plant those too. It'll just take longer for them to get big but i have nothing but time.

Thanks for the complements. I'm already itching to build a bigger tank but thats going to be a lot of work so i'll stick with this one for a while.
