Default Buying Snails from Big Al's

I was wondering if snails can carry disease/parasites just like fish. Big Al's is the closest store that carries turbo snails; the next one is an hour and a half away. As you can imagine, I'm a little reluctant to buy from Big Al's since we all know their livestock isn't the healthiest. However, if the risk of bringing in something like velvet, ich, or flukes is small, then I'd rather get them at Big Al's than transporting them an hour and a half in the middle of a snow storm.

    Any thoughts/experiences?

In theory it certainly is possible as most can trap water inside their shells, even though they never get infected by what they are carrying. If that water that is trapped inside has a parasite in it, the snail can carry it and potentially release it latter while it is still viable.

If you acclimate your snails like you would fish, you would certainly be limiting any risk.

I will even QT my snails so long enough so that if they are carrying ick (or something else), it would have starved off.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
