Default Tankmate suggestions for a Senegal Bichir?

Anyone have any bichir experience? I was wondering what species you have successfully kept with bichir long term and in what size tank.
Will they still be able to bother/eat smaller but fast moving fish (thinking about giant danios)? What about larger but mellower guys (thinking about silver dollars or a severum)? Are there any other African species available that would be compatible with a bichir? My guy is only about 3 inches long and he has a 40G breeder to himself for the time being.

Anything it can't fit in its mouth. My bichir keeps to itself mostly, its in a 55 with a leopard cntenopoma and african brown knife.

I had to sell my bichir (and the whole setup for that matter) a few months ago, but she was around 8" and lived with an african knife, tilapia, an african leaffish, some synodontis cats, and a few other bichirs in a 265 gallon.

Basically if they can't eat it, it'll do fine. And if they won't pick on it, but there aren't many fish that will. Stuff like aba aba knives will but that's pretty much it.

I try to keep my fish-mates in the 4-5 inch minimum range, but my Bichir is docile and gets along with his tank mates. Cats are a good choice. I have a 7 inch brown and black synodontis cat that has been his tank-mate since he was but a needle in the tank. My Pictus also did well.
