    sure
Just anchor them in the gravel. They'll grow

Hey, try a ram, they are pretty small and you might be able to have success with one in there. I would not go with any of the popular African cichlids, they get a bit too big for a 14. As babies it would be perfect though, if you could get a larger tank later. A betta is a great choice for color. Don't be discouraged. Bettas are so lively once they become comfortable, and both females and males are beautiful. Or a dwarf gourami. Best of luck!
    Work hard and have fun

I have bought a halfmoon betta called Nebo who is beautiful but he only shows his full finnage when he flares. He has also attacked one of my platies so I moved the two platies but they are fine now.Poor Nebo has 2 or 3 pin holes in his fins due to over flaring but he will heal.

He is just a beautiful fish but very feisty:)I just wished he could have went with the platies:(

Rams generally need well seasoned and mature tanks. Not a good choice IMO for a brand new tank, but even a pair would work in a 14 gal - again, if it was a mature tank.

And I'm glad your betta is doing well.
