Petco no longer sells the aqueon brand for $1/gallon. I read somewhere that either Aqueon could not keep up distribution with the $1/gallon sale happening every quarter of the year at Petco or that they were no longer willing to sell their aquariums at a cheaper price to Petco so often. It's a shame really, since the Aqueon brands had much better silicone applied to the inner part of the tank than the Tetra brand.

On a side note, I read that Tetra had bought out Drsfostersmith. Hopefully, the site won't get worse..

    You got that right.

For the OP, make sure to fill the tank up with water in a safe place. Leave it for a few days to make sure it doesn't leak. I also got my 40B at the dollar per gallon sale, also a Tetra brand. Silicone job isn't the best. Mine didn't leak but these tanks sure do require a good test before putting them where you want them. It's a good habit either way though.

You know what this tank needs? ........................ Crypts.

I never had an Aqueon tank. I had one 10 gallon, one 29 gallon then I upgraded to a used 55 that I got off of Craig's list which was the tetra brand. When I upgraded to the 75, it was another craigslist find, but almost new Aqueon and I can say it was my first Aqueon tank and I do like the quality vs. the Tetra tanks. I think I may just spend some more $ and get the 40B Aqueon.

Oh, man-Tetra bought out Dr. Foster and Smith? Wonder why? I thought they were spectacular as they were. I never had any issues with them or their customer service. Darn, I hope it doesn't change.

I buy all my supplies and equipment from Drs Foster & Smith and nothing from Petco. Hopefully nothing changes or it will be a disaster.

Aqueon pulled out of Petco. They won't put their independent LFS at a disadvantage vs the Petco $1 a gallon price, which the independents can't match.
