Can anyone help ID this cichlid? Its my daughters and she knows nothing about it, she would like to get it a friend but is unsure if it gets along with its own kind. Any help is appreciated. He/she is around 2" now.

Looks like a Maingano African cichild to me (M. cyanerhabdos)
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thank you, I'll do the research for her. It really is a very cure little beastie, makes me wish I could keep a couple.

What else is in the tank? Mbuna are NOT community fish. A single individual is likely to be not too much trouble.

Her tank is a hot mess, its her first and she randomly tossed in fish she liked. There is a red claw yabby, some goldfish of various size who go back outside in the summer and the cichlid. She did have some black skirts and a swordfish but the yabby ate them.
I've been trying to convince her to ditch the goldfish and get something fast that might survive the yabby but she won't listen.
