    Question New Oscar

    Hi All,

    I have a 370 G freshwater tank (8 x 2.5 x 2.5). I have 1 Oscar, 5 SD's and 4 Severums in it.

I have got a new small Oscar today around 4 or 5 inches. When i bought it he/she was very active in the shop's display tank, However when i put him/her into my tank now he/she is acting very lazy and just hiding behind a rock cave.

No fishes are bothering him/her at all, except my big Oscar that to only when he see's him/her.

Whats the chances of him/her surviving as there is ample space in the tank .

Please share your views and advice what to do...

Sounds like you have just added the little oscar. It can take some time for the fish to establish a new picking order when a new fish is added. As long as the little oscar has a safe place to hide, and he/she is getting enough to eat, they will work it out

It can also take a new fish a week or so to get used to their new surroundings when first added to a new home.

Take a week and carefully observe things. If the little oscar can not get enough to get, or is getting nipped at, then you will want to consider rehoming him.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
