Thanks so much, Laura!....and as far as her becoming a member, I'll have to pry her away from her dang 'ole cell phone first, LOL

Great dw pieces. You also had a great "harvest" for your 40B, so you and Lauren have a great eye for these things. I can't wait to see it set up.

My son was also born in 2000, but in December. I'm trying to get him hooked. He seems interested, but not quite hooked yet. Maybe that light that you have could be the cool gadget he needs to turn the corner LOL.

Oh, and I second the motion for Lauren to get her own forum account...that way we get both sides of the story! ;-)
Thanks goldy!...both sides of the story??....hmmm...that could be a really good thing, or a really bad one

You know, I think we are!...do you remember when I was building the 40B...and the rummynose were at the top of the original stocking list?...and I wishy-washed around and didn't get them until months later?...not gonna happen this time! (I hope)

Congrats on the new tank too :) maybe I can keep up with this one XD
That would be a neat combo!...but the CPD's like their water a bit warmer than what the WC's thrive in...
Yeah, you are getting in at the very beginning, should be able to keep up, no problem.

I particularly love that first stump with all the nooks and crannies. In fact, I want it! Some well placed moss would make that a RCS haven. Or just a great piece to attach some java fern or anubias. You've shown a lot of hard scape options there, but make sure to leave plenty of swimming room to satisfy your overstocking tendencies.

Another fun adventure for all of us. But yeah, time to bring Lauren into the fold.
Thanks Sue!...and NO, she doesn't do her own WC's!....this'll be a good time to teach her how, I'm thinking.
And you are right, I need to keep the tank as open as possible for the 500 fish I want in there, so we're probably just going to use the 2 stumps, the tall piece, rocks and the coco cave (we made the coco cave together, so it's gotta be used, lol)

I think it will be fun, too...great to have all of my friends here to share it with

You know, she can access the forum on her phone... "there is an app for that". If you (or her) download tapatalk, you can access the forum from a phone -- I do it all the time. There are a few limitations (you cannot give thumbs up, for instance -- I do those when i get home!) but for the most part it works really well.

Thanks goldy, I'll see what she thinks of the idea....

OK, I almost forgot...the stump in the 5th pic above is not glued to the slate yet....she mentioned that she would like a "cave" cut out of the bottom of it, before we glue it down...sort of like the opening in the coco cave

Any idea how I could do this?....I'd rather it not be a perfect semi-circle so that it looks more natural...but if I use a regular old hand saw, it will be too square-ish, I'm thinking....I don't have a skill saw, unfortunately

I like these guys as second fish, just because they are so different :)

Dynamite makes a nice, naturally shaped opening. How big is this piece of wood?

    That might be overkill....

Hmm, it's probably 5-6 inches wide, maybe 4 inches tall, probably 2 inches thick

Use a hole saw bit or a paddleblade bit to make the opening about the size you want, then use a chisel to flake off pieces to make it look more natural?
