Default How do you light a tank that has a center brace?

I'm going to pick up my 50g tank today, and it hit me, I have no idea how to properly light a tank that has a brace down the center. Won't I lose a lot of light if I just sit a 36" LED on the tank? I really want to stay away from hanging pendant lights, or any light for that matter, over the tank. Perhaps I've made a mistake and should just stick with the free 30g that I have and set it up. Its going to be much easier to light since there is no brace...

Don't worry about the center brace on the tank. It will not have a noticeable effect. You can still use a fixture that spans the full lenght of the aquarium
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

OK, I was wondering if maybe I needed to do two 18" lights? One on each half?

So let's say I go with a 36" light, do I need to get two since the tank is 18" deep from front to back. Gonna be getting the Current Satellite+ light and the spread is 120°. I was hoping it would work. Thoughts?

The tank dimensions are 36"x18"x18", so each half would be square in dimension.

Are you referring to the lenses used on the fixture ? Do they have 120 degree lenses ?

Cliff, I think I mean the lenses...? :D Here's a quote from their site "120 degree dispersion angle for optimal spread and color blending."

Why not just get two light fixtures and put one on each side, that way you can also customize the light for each side.
