I actually mistyped something. The presedimentation pond holds 3.5 million gallons.

It's outdoors, and is basically a lined pond, shaped to try to maximize the time it takes water to flow through it, yet not have a high water velocity. The idea is to let as much crud settle out of the raw water as possible before we bring it into the plant to filter it.

The pond is filled from the river, and the water plant pulls water from the pond. Since fish are in the river, and therefore may get pumped into the the pond, they live and breed there. Then, some of those "pond fish" can also be pumped into the water plant's filters. And that's where the ones in the aquarium came from.

They're some of the survivors that made it into the filters that I rescued while scooping out live and dead ones.

People are shocked to see live fish swimming in the filters, but you have to remember that the water we're treating is really just river water. It's not any better than river or pond water until it's been treated. So the raw water can look pretty rhaunchy at times! :)

This may be an odd request, but could you get a picture of the pond for us? A picture of the aquarium/fish would be great too! We might be able to help you identify them. For some reason working at a water treatment plant now sounds like the most interesting job one could have!
I have more (and better) conversations with fish, dogs, and myself than I do with actual people.
Myself, the fish, and the dogs all agree.

Based on the technology described and the use of gallons I'd say he is. Still, big country with a lot of different native species. Interesting!

Once I am able to log into to this forum using something other than this tablet and TapaTalk, I can post some pictures. Ill try to get some of the fish, and I already have some of the pond and lagoons, etc.
