  1. Default confused about my Black widow Tetras

    0 Not allowed!
    Hi there,

I have 6 black widow tetras in my 60 Gl community tank, however, there fins go translucent when ever the light is on. They go black like they should during the night. Is this because my light is too bright? or is there another reason that someone may be able to share?

    Cheers,

    Dutchy.

This might be a dumb question, but how can you tell if the fins are black at night when the light is off? Also where did you read the fins should be black? Is this color change new with these fish or has it always been like this? What are your water parameters? What other fish do you have in this tank? What kind of light do you have?

I haven't paid much attention to my Blackskirts at night with the light turned off. I do know while using a flash light their strips fade away at night. Also they can fade away when their stressed or diseased.

Looking at my Blackskirts now during the day with light on their fins are a bit translucent too, especially the tail fin. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
