kailwidow, I hope you are enjoying your fish.

I would be very interested to know if you add salt or not and how your Molly does if you don't, in particular. (I'd love to be able to get a Molly, but am not willing to add salt so I removed them from my fish consideration list.) There are conflicting articles regarding this. Talking to real people that have a fish that I am considering is a delightful attribute of this site!

Perhaps you would consider starting a journal...?

So far he is hanging in there I have not added the salt. I am constantly monitoring his behavior for signs of disease. I will post a video as soon as I can.

Glad he is doing well...and what a coincidence, you are now at "Molly" status!

I noticed the other day I was a Platy and I have two Platies.. I bought the salt but I have not used it yet. He seems to be doing well. I have been feeding them twice a day and not huge amounts. I have also added the brine shrimp. I am testing the water every two days and the ammonia has been a steady 0. The fish seem to know when I am coming to feed them because they swim to the front when I come into the room. I'm reluctant to add another Molly but I see Rob chasing the platies around the tank.

*smiles* I'm glad you are enjoying your fish!

I can't recall: Are your Platys both female? If so the male Molly is going to court them. It doesn't matter if you have another Molly or not. Do however be aware that fry are likely imminent.

Isn't it wonderful how they start to recognize you? Feeding time is such fun! There is little wonder why so many people make the mistake of overfeeding when first starting out... it is hard to resist that temptation! You are being responsible and are no doubt being rewarded for that with healthy fish.
