I do own a tv - I watch bluray movies and seasons of some tv shows that I get on people's recommendations - but I have no tv service. No cable, no satellite, and no antennae since they went digital. I don't even have the bandwidth to watch Netlfix or youtube.
They are all vastly overpriced, to my mind, and while there are a few things worth watching, it ain't worth the money they charge. I would even dump cell if I could, another service I am sure is overpriced. I don't know why companies need to make ever escalating billions of dollars in profits, but we keep paying so that's the way it will stay.
At least radio is still worth listening to - and its still free!

It would be interesting to see how much it really does cost to deliver a channel's worth of programming for a year, or provide a years worth of cell service, compared to what is charged.

I love the old mysteries. The Twilight Zone! It's way scarier on the radio than on TV. When I was in highschool (my parent's did have TV either) I could pick up CBS on my radio. So every night I'd go to sleep listening to CSI, CSI Miami, Cold Case, stuff like that. For the longest time I never knew what any of those actors looked like. hahaha

I have no idea. It was on the lowest channel and only CBS. None of the other networks. You'd be surprised though how many of those TV shows work on radio. Obviously if they do some sort of montage you have no idea what is going on, but other than that you can follow the shows pretty well.

    Hmm.. think I got it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_A...el_frequencies

VHF channel 6 had an audio frequency very close to that of FM radio.

Of course with the shut down of analogue TV this has all disappeared now.

I find it interesting to see what media people prefer and why.

I am a TV person. Hubby and I both relax in the evening watching something before going to bed. We grew up doing that and we enjoy it.

I hate watching any type of video (be it YouTube, DVD, whatever...) on the computer. Hubby doesn't use the computer for anything except work...and checking hockey pools...lol.

I know you can hook your computer to your TV...but since we don't have reliable internet service out here I've even never bothered to try. But I suppose...at some point down the road...that will be what we end up doing.

...and I agree...there seems to be a plethora of shows on TV...but nothing really satisfying to watch. We have consequently defaulted to buying series (and the odd movie)...which I think is too expensive too...but dunno what else to do. Neither one of us wants to give up our evening TV....

I miss recording our shows on VCR...and then watching them when it was convenient for us...

I also prefer having physical CDs to my iPod. Although I use the iPod too...when working by myself for extended periods of time. Same goes with my eReader. I use it (rarely) but don't like it.

Maybe it's something to do with growing up with libraries and physical books? Having something to hold (book, CD, DVD, etc.) makes it more 'real' and easy to mentally organize?

What I do prize the internet the most for...is it's use as a giant encyclopedia AND dictionary...I am constantly using it to look stuff up - and don't want to go back to physical book for that...
