Thank you all! And regarding the plant, I think you're all right lol. It looks exactly like the pic of the pothos/money plant. As for removing it, it's gunna be staying in just for a tad bit longer. Of course I'll prune and remove the dead bits, but I'll need it atleast until this Tuesday until my guppy breeder I ordered comes in just incase the pregnant female pops, so that the fry will atleast have somewhere to hide. (She was apparently pregnant from the store, but didnt show till a few days ago). As soon as the breeder is in though, I'll definitely remove it all and do a slightly larger than normal water change just in case!

Howdy and welcome from another fellow Texan, good to have you aboard...yeah, the pothos isn't going to last long submerged like that, but you can let it grow out of the back of the top of the tank with the roots submerged...the roots will make a nice network of hiding places for not just the fry, but any fish dwelling around the top.

If you're close to SE Texas, I can get you all of the free platys and mystery snails you can handle

You'll learn here that I'm a prolific breeder of both...unintentionally

Thanks, Slap! You're 10g journal was actually the first thing I read on this site! haha. Its basically just a placeholder until payday when I can get more plants lol. I plan on doing basically a forest of plants ramped up on the left side of the tank opposite the filter, and that side will actually probably be rescaped with sand or dirt with ferts layered under it, and the plants with ramp up sparsely from the centerish to a forest of sorts at the top of the hill on the left side. (Looks better in my head than I'm managing to portray it with words lol).

As SE Texas, unfortunately I live on the Texas/Oklahoma border about 50 miles north of Dallas. lol.

Hey, if you're ever in the area, just bring a couple ahaha.

You're 10g really helped me out. Learned me pretty good on the nitrogen cycle and the basics lol. I did skim the 40B, but it'll be quiet some time before I can read the full thing lmao. I think it took me 2ish weeks just to read the 10g! haha

I'm going to hold you to that, lol...

Glad the 10G adventure helped you learn a thing or two....it's such a common story for the way so many of us started out (the newbie WRONG way) that it could almost be a learning sticky of how NOT to begin the hobby, lol

    Hold away my man haha.

Indeed. I guess I had the benefit of my grandmother who kept them for years, but I mostly just did my homework. Didnt wanna end up with a tank full of dead fish right off lol
