So the gouramis can't be kept in small groups?

Sparkling gouramis can be kept as a pair or trio, which I have. I'm not familiar with the honey or other dwarf gourami.

Not all species. The smaller ones, like sparkling gouramis, can be kept in a small group or harem. I've had great success keeping up to 7 honey gouramis (2 males) in a 50 gallon tank. The amount of surface cover needed to keep small gouramis comfortable must not be underestimated though.

Pearl and kissing gouramis are also group oriented. I had 4 pearls in the 45 (36x12) - they'd still be in there if I didn't give the tank away.
125 - BGK, pictus cats, silver dollars, kissing gouramis, palmas bichir, delhezi bichir
125 - Red severum, bolivian rams, Turquoise rainbows, irian red rainbows, loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, pearl gouramis
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, elephant nose, spotted ctenopoma, upside down cats

At the moment I have a pair of GBR's, 5 leopard danios, 10 neon tetras and a pair of flame dwarf gouramis. What do yall think would compliment these well, I plan on getting one more pair of rams.

I would go against it actually. Is your tank planted? Both gouramis should be able to mark their own territory.
So I would return 1. You can add some corys or white clouds too.
When everything goes without a hitch its only then do you realize something is wrong
