Feeding cichlid food to non cichlids
When I bought my new aquarium it was used and came with a lot of food for cichlids. There is a Hikari Cichlid Gold package, some natural one, and a couple others. It seems like a waste to just have them sitting around so can I feed it to my honey gouramis and harlequin rasboras? It wouldn't be their only food, I'd only give it to them maybe once a week.

If they can swallow it, it is not an issue.

Most food for tropical fish, despite marketing, are composed of essentially the same things. As long as your fish are able to physically ingest it and do not have any special dietary needs (plecos, etc) you can certainly feed food not specified for that species.

I use floating Cichlid pellets for my neon tetras. I just crumble a pellet up with my fingers and sprinkle it in. Let the frenzy begin.

I bought a whole can of Omega One cichlid flakes for 2 Apistos I had that didn't live very long...I feed it to my (non-cichlid) fish with no issues...they love it, as a matter of fact

excel is intended for mainly vegetarian fish, once a week that won't hurt and the same comments apply to this,
Bio gold might be the best bet. It is a floater but smaller and protein.
I recently got a sample of the micro pellets and that is a big hit with my barbs, neons and hatchets. Best general purpose food I've had so far.
