Ok so I just cleaned and rescaped and was putting fish back in and one of my otos nose got stuck in the lining of the net don't know how, but eventually got it off and its stressed and breathing fast but no scrapes or anything, do you think it will be ok?

It will be fine, mine did that when i first got them...you just have to immerse the net, and let them swim off on their own

I use a net to pull out my mesh pre filters, so the debris doesn't fall back into the tank...yesterday, I accidentally netted an oto in the process, and carried him all the way to the kitchen sink before i knew I'd caught him...he got caught in the net too, but swam off and ended up being just fine

Good deal...their tiny dorsal fin is sharp as a needle, lots of times they get this caught up in the net

Mine yesterday was "suckered" onto the net with his mouth, LOL

Happened to me once, I felt bad for the little thing.
Even though I don't really keep Otos anymore, I'll be sure to add them in the tank with my hands next time. Of course, with precision.

They have incredibly rough skin. They are covered in something called "odontodes" which are like little teeth. I take a lot of macro photos of otos and close up it looks like shark skin. This is why they get caught on netting easily.

Yeah I had to touch it to try to nudge it off and it was like sandpaper, Faded why wouldn't you add otos? Are your gobies rainbow gobies?
