    Talking GuppyAteMyDog's 175 gallon journal

so i'm going to do a diy 175 , i got a 6ft stand that needs to be re-purposed :D cuz i have another 6ft tank that it was built for but i realized it's construction wasn't good enough for that tank as it's 250gals however a smaller 175 should be okay

the tank's dimensions will be 72" by 24" by 24" with 3/8"thick glass i'm not going to be filling the tank all the way maybe 3/4 of the height so the thinner glass should be okay

i'm, ordering the glass this month , with a 1.5" overflow hole on one of the side panes and a 2ft sump will be made from scrap glass i have around which i'll also use as braces inside the top of the tank probably three 12" pieces one in the middle and two on the sides

also will be doing a diy styrofoam background , and getting some nice rocks and driftwood for the hardscape

not sure about the type of tank yet but either a malawi tank or another planted

if i do a mbuna tank which i'm leaning to, it'll be a few of the common species but yellow labs and demasoni will be a must and probably try anubias only with the hardscape with some cfls or leds as lighting

Looking forward to seeing pics and following this set-up !!!
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
